The Dust of Valentine's Day Has Settled

Welcome to Dude Write!

We are thrilled to have you here, whether you are a Writer Dude, a Blogger Dude, a Reader Dude or a Fanatic of good writing. If you've stumbled upon us via a link and wondering what you've gotten yourself into, our Mission Statement should explain it all.

Hey dudes. Did you treat your significant other nicely on Valentine's Day?

Perhaps you took her on a breathtaking nude hike in the mountains, where the hills weren't the only thing that was breathtaking.

Maybe you decided to splurge and buy her something nice, like the latest phone. Hopefully you didn't have any problems with the phone, like it not getting reception anywhere. Or it erasing all of your contacts and notes. Or it actually just being a rectangular block of concrete.

But maybe you didn't just win the lottery and don't have the money to buy something expensive like a phone (which is fine, man: money doesn't mean anything). So you decided to keep things simple this Valentine's Day. Nothing newsworthy, you know? Maybe you wrote her a song. Or cooked a special meal for her. Or you dedicated a special blog post to her.

Or maybe you decided to keep things really simple, and do nothing. Literally nothing. You told your wife, "you said you didn't want to do anything for Valentine's Day, so we are just going to a hotel room and doing nothing." And in doing so, you become the most romantic of us all.

Damn you, Ken.

Or maybe you don't have a girlfriend, but really want one, so you elect to send anonymous notes to a coworker. The trouble is, you already sent her anonymous notes every single workday of 2013.

It's starting to get scary, man. The time to stop doing that is now.

Seriously. Stop.

Whatever you happened to do for your lady, we applaud you for being a dude of dudes and showing your woman (or man) that you care. And for also partaking in the only activity that us single dudes don't envy you for -- the one moment where we can point and laugh at you and say "Haha, look at him and what he has to do! I'm so glad that I'm single!"

And with that, we shall reveal the results.

The latest People's Choice award winner, granted to the person receiving the most votes from our readership is Ken for his post "Nothing," in which he tells us about his simple, yet ultra-romantic plans for Valentine's Day.

Our inductee into the Members Only Diamond Club is.... Ken again!

After reading his post, I think there was a collective groan across the Dude Write community, where we all just said, "Damn you, Ken. Can't beat that."

Congrats, and head on over to the Diamond Club to link up!

Ken, two winners ago said this "My selection for Chairman's Choice for this week is, I Blogged Your Mom's post, Untethered. Not only did feel bad that he had to abandon his cool Star Wars theme'd phone. (theme'd phones are so cool!) But he also had to deal with a whole mess to get a new phone, including dropping some names that did him no good at all at the end of the day. I hope you get that S3 figured out, they say it takes 14 days to adjust to a new phone."

Your editors also had an opinion this week.

Youngman Brown said, "My Chairman's Choice goes to Michael Walker for his post "Some Things Are Sacred." This post touched me personally, because I have recently had similar realizations that the pursuit of happiness has almost nothing to do with monetary gain."

WilyGuy said, ""This week, I've got to go with that good-for-nothing, Ken. His post about the 'Nothing' his wife wanted for Valentine's Day had many of us screaming like Admiral Ackbar 'It's a TRAP!' Ken, however, brilliantly flipped the script and took his wife on the best 'nothing' ever. Well played and well written this week, Ken."

Congratulations to all of the new Man Card winners this week. If you didn't get yours this week, come back again on Thursday and try again!
