Welcome to Dude Write! We are thrilled to have you here, whether you are a Writer Dude, a Blogger Dude, a Reader Dude or a Fanatic of good writing. If you've stumbled upon us via a link and wondering what you've gotten yourself into, our Mission Statement should explain it all.
As you have likely figured out by now, we here at Dude Write like to link themes with our weekly writing competitions. Don’t ask me what we are going to do when we reach Dude Write #1092. I guess we will throw a big, huge party because that would mean Dude Write will have been in existence for 21 years. Now that would be something to celebrate!
So thinking of themes this week, a number of obvious choices came to mind, the first being the age 21. You know, when we all become legalized drunks. I’m sure we all have great stories to share on those birthdays. Then there is Blackjack! Who doesn't like getting watered down free drinks while they lose their life savings? Naturally, we are living in the 21st Century, so there’s that to celebrate.
Then of course we have less obvious choices, like 21 representing our unknown superiors or the great spiritual Masters of humanity, and 21 representing the harmony of creation, or the number 21 representing maturity and the responsibility for an individual (nah, that doesn't sound like us at all). Or how about the little known fact, according to R. Allendy, that the number 21 “contains the ratios of the principle of individuality 1 with the cosmic differentiation 20.” These ratios would constitute an act of organization - 2 + 1 = 3: "Thus the principle of individuality, placed between the world of the spirit and that the matter, realizes in itself the meeting of both.”
Ummm… yeah…. that seems way too complicated for us.

No, instead of using any of these great (some better than others) choices, I spent countless
minutes, researching the best use of the number 21 and how it could apply to us,
and found only one good fit; perfection. According to the Bible (yea, I
went there), the number 21 represents perfection.
So dust off your laptop, iPad, or computer and make this a perfect week of writing.
