Welcome to Dude Write!

We are thrilled to have you here, whether you are a Writer Dude, a Blogger Dude, a Reader Dude or a Fanatic of good writing. If you've stumbled upon us via a link and wondering what you've gotten yourself into, our Mission Statement should explain it all.

Cast off the awkward teenage years, Dude Write is coming into its own.  If we were a girl, we'd be Sweet Sixteen, never been kissed.  Of course, with this rowdy crowd, we'd hardly be mistaken for a teenage girl and kissing isn't really a problem.

For boys, the 16th birthday is when we yearn to get our license and our own car. A car brings with it the ability to extend our adventures beyond our current borders.  For some 16 year old boys, the first car is the beginning of a life long love affair with wheels.  Many boys bonded with their dads in the garage, changing the oil or spark plugs.  My dad was not a "car dad" but rather a "lawn dad" so I learned most of what I know from my high school best friend.

My Dream Car - was the 1966 Ford Mustang, preferably "Rag Top", even more preferable the Shelby GT variety of which about 10 were made.

Unfortunately, our first car isn't always what we want, but rather what we can afford both from the car, but its maintenance and the insurance, which was never cheap for a newbie driver. My first car was a 1976 Honda Civic, yes it was Orange.  I had a lot of fun in that car.  It was the Mini Cooper of its era.

Leave us a comment, tell us what kind of car you wanted when you were 16 and what was actually your first car.  What about your favorite memories of your first car?  Memories of learning some of the finer automotive things from your Dad or another person in your life?  How were your adventures expanded?

More importantly, what did you learn from your first car?

And on with the show...
