Let's be honest, the blogosphere is pretty much run by women.
That's not a bad thing. In fact, it is probably a good thing, making the blogging world a kinder, gentler place.
But as male bloggers, we sometimes feel left out.
Blogs about motherhood are great. But c'mon ladies, no matter what a man does, he will never be a mommy.
|...or even a good housekeeper, for that matter.|
Again, this is probably a good thing. Too much testosterone would probably break the internet. But we as male bloggers still feel left out.
Sure, some female bloggers might accidentally stumble upon our blogs. And sure, some of those ladies might read some of the words that we have somehow merged into sentences that may or may not make sense. And sure, sometimes those fine members of the fairer sex might write a comment on our blogs, offering words of encouragement such as "great work!" or "keep trying!"
And that's cool.
But sometimes dudes just need other dudes who can give them the equivalent of "you go girl!" as we write about the daily struggles that we face as men.
Someone who understands the pain and frustration that occurs when we are in a crowded, silent room and we really need to fart.
Someone who can give us a pat on the back when we blow our chances with that really hot bartender when we get too drunk and puke all over the bar.
Or for the dads out there, someone who can nod his head and say, "I don't know what the hell I am doing, either."
And that is what Dude Write is for.
Dude Write is an opportunity for male bloggers out there to come together and share their voices, opinions, and even complaints with one another.
And, like men are prone to do, we have turned it into a competition.
But the competition is there mostly for fun and bragging rights, as well as to make things a bit more interesting. Each week, submit one of your blog posts, knowing that you will have a full audience of other guys (though it might take us longer to read it. Because long words are, like, pretty tricky).
Then, we all come back on Monday night and vote for our favorites.
Here at Dude Write, we are a little silly. But we can also be serious. We welcome all posts from all men from all walks of life. If you are a jokester, be a jokester. If you are profound, be profound. If you are a poet, be a poet. It is an opportunity for the few male bloggers to come together and share their work in a supportive atmosphere. We don't put anyone down, but we do learn from each other.
We know it sounds like treehouse politics to say "no girls allowed," but whatever. When it comes to blogging, we are the minority. So we don't feel too bad about it.
Welcome to the Man Cave. Grab a beer, pull up a recliner, and enjoy some good reading.
